The event was organized by the Farmers Council of Uzbekistan, Small Grants Programme of the Global Environment Facility (GEF SGP) with the support of UNDP in Uzbekistan, Succow Fund and Republican Scientific-Production Center of ornamental horticulture and forestry.
Ferghana Valley, which unites three regions of Uzbekistan, has large volume of dry lands, which can be used to production of pistachios. This will help the farmers to receive income.
The participants learnt the technology of growing pistachio on dry land, received the necessary literature.
Obidjon Nosirov, chairman of the Council of Farmers of Jalaquduq district of Andijan region, said that the seminar helped to outline some plans for himself and wants to launch pistachios plantations in the district, which will help environment and increase income of farmers.
The participants visited Asaka district, where Qohna Dala Sardori farm created a new pistachios plantation.
The organizers said that over 100 famers from Ferghana, Namangan and Andijan regions, state bodies and others participated in the event.
