Envoy: Uzbek-Spanish relations develop gradually

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to Uzbekistan with residence in Moscow José Ignacio Carbajal Gárate paid a visit to Uzbekistan.

In his interview with Jahon news agency, Ambassador José Ignacio Carbajal Gárate said that the relations between two nations are developing gradually due to friendly relations between Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Spanish King Juan Karlos I.

He said that he held several important meetings to discuss issues related to deepening relations between two nations, improving bilateral ties, including in trade-economic sphere.

He said that several Spanish firms like Maxam, Initec are successfully work in Uzbekistan, while Spain-made Talgo high speed trains run between Tashkent and Samarkand. He expressed hope that mutual beneficial cooperation will be continued in future as well.

Envoy underlined that Spain made huge jump in economic development. He said that Spain possesses one of the best high speed train network in Europe and five of ten largest European companies are from Spain. Businesses of Uzbekistan and Spain have good potential to lift mutual cooperation in trade-economic sphere to new level.

Spanish Ambassador said that there is need to develop cooperation in tourism sector. He added that the sides can work in this direction.

José Ignacio Carbajal Gárate said that studying of Spanish language in Uzbekistan is important issue for Spain. He said that four universities in Uzbekistan teach Spanish language and Spain is doing its best to its popularization.

Ambassador said that Spain is also interested in supporting active cultural-humanitarian dialogue, including participation of Spanish representatives in events in Uzbekistan such as Sharq Taronalari.
