Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 August 2021, a meeting was held between the Minister of Energy Alisher Sultanov and the Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Japanese energy cooperation, including projects in the field of renewable energy, opportunities for support in this direction from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) were discussed.
The Japanese Ambassador was informed about the reforms recently implemented in the energy sector of Uzbekistan, the attention paid by the Government of the country to the creation of the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy and the Research Center of Hydrogen Energy as part of this research institute.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the possibilities of attracting authoritative Japanese experts in order to work with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan in such promising areas as the accumulation of electricity and stabilization of networks.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yoshinori Fujiyama invited A. Sultanov to take part in the First Online Meeting of Ministers of the Asian Partnership for Green Growth, scheduled to be held on 4 October 2021.
At this meeting, issues of pragmatic energy transition in Asian countries will be discussed, which is important and relevant for the implementation of global decarbonization in the face of an urgent need to address the problem of climate change.
