Employee of High-Altitude “Oygainq” Meteorological Station Evacuated with Support from Uzbekistan’s Air Force
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An employee of the high-altitude “Oygainq” meteorological station, located in a remote section of the Ugam-Chatkal mountain range, was urgently evacuated with the assistance of the Air Force of the Ministry of Defense, the defense ministry’s press service reported.
On 5 January, the leadership of UzHydromet informed the military that the station worker was in serious condition and required immediate evacuation.
A standby Super Puma search-and-rescue helicopter of the Air Force departed for the station at night, utilizing night-vision equipment.
According to Air Force data provided to Gazeta, the snow cover at the station reached 80–90 cm, with air temperatures at −10°C.
The crew successfully transported the UzHydromet employee to a hospital in Chirchiq, where he received the necessary medical care.
At present, the employee’s condition is reported as good, and he remains under observation by qualified specialists. UzHydromet continues to provide him with all necessary support.
