Electronic Prescription in Uzbekistan: Protecting Health, Not Limiting Access to Medicines

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Recently, the introduction of the electronic prescription system has sparked active public discussion. However, the Ministry of Health emphasizes that it is not a restriction but a patient safety tool.

The new mechanism enables control over dosages, prevents excessive prescribing of medications, and reduces risks associated with the uncontrolled use of antibiotics.

The system is currently undergoing pilot testing in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. During this phase, technical and organizational issues are identified and addressed before full-scale implementation across the country.

A responsible approach to testing ensures the safe use of electronic prescriptions in the future.

For citizen convenience, a permanent feedback channel has been established, including a hotline at 71-202-50-00, a call center, and a dedicated working group at the Ministry of Health.

To check whether a medicine is dispensed with or without a prescription, citizens can use the official website pharm.gov.uz or the mobile application “PharmUz.”

The Ministry of Health urges the public to rely only on official sources and reminds that the electronic prescription system is designed to protect health, reduce complication risks, and ensure transparency in medicine dispensing.
