Eight key areas for further economic growth in Uzbekistan aroused the interest of the Brussels Press Club

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 10 June 2020, during the video conference, 8 key directions of further growth of the economy of Uzbekistan were discussed by the Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Obid Hakimov, our country’s Ambassador to Benelux countries Dilyor Hakimov with the executive director of the Brussels Press Club Laurent Brihai and the head of the unit for external relations Gregor Kupper.

The parties discussed the implementation of a new media project - a competition among European journalists - members of the international network of Press Clubs for the "Best Article about Uzbekistan."

On 17-21 February 2020, a government delegation consisting of the Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan O. Khakimov visited Brussels (Belgium). During the visit, a meeting was held with the representative of the Brussels International Press Club, G. Kupper, on the issue of holding a competition among European journalists.

This meeting was a continuation of previously reached preliminary agreements.

The main topic of discussion of the meeting was the issue of implementing a media project - a competition among European journalists - members of the international network of Press Clubs for the "Best Article about Uzbekistan", which will increase the interest of international media in Uzbekistan. The purpose of the contest is to increase the image of Uzbekistan in the international arena.

The project envisages the world community to present reliable information about Uzbekistan, the socio-economic reforms being undertaken, measures in the area of investor support, the development of integration processes, business support during the crisis, a positive image of the textile sector and the tourism industry of Uzbekistan.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the results of the meeting chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 9 June a meeting dedicated to ensuring stability of the national economy, at which 8 key areas for ensuring the growth of the country’s economy were identified. European partners expressed interest in these initiatives, including poverty reduction and employment growth, accelerated reforms in the banking system and others.
