Egyptian low cost airline to carry out flights between Tashkent and Sharm El Sheikh
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Antimonopoly Committee studied the appeal of the representative of the Egyptian airline – low-cost airline Nile Air to assist in obtaining the necessary slots for flights on the route Sharm El-Sheikh – Tashkent – Sharm El-Sheikh.
A slot is the time allocated at the airport to a flight for the aircraft to perform an arrival or departure operation on a specific date or period.
In the study of this issue, it was found that to date, the only Egyptian airline Al Masria is engaged in air transportation on this route.
At the same time, the repeated appeals of Nile Air, which is also the air carrier appointed by the Egyptian side on the route Sharm El-Sheikh – Tashkent – Sharm El-Sheikh, sent to the address of Uzbekistan Airways on the provision of free slots for flights on this route were not positively considered.
During the meeting initiated by the Antimonopoly Committee in the Ministry of transport on 30 July with participation of the representatives of Uzbekistan Airways, the issue of the need to provide Nile air with an appropriate slot for flights to develop healthy competition in this direction was discussed.
As a result of the study of the issue, Uzbekistan Airways agreed on slots for Nile Air. The slot will be provided from 21 August 2019.
