Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Eurasian Development Bank’s Digital Initiatives Fund (EDB-DIF) visited Uzbekistan to discuss partnerships in digital transformation and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies.

During the visit, Tigran Sarkisyan, Deputy Chairman of the EDB Board and curator of the Digital Initiatives Fund, met with Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies and Director of IT. The delegation presented prospective projects under development by the Fund, including digital solutions for water resource management, labor market monitoring, jewelry trade, air quality, and other sectors.

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies expressed readiness to study the proposals in detail and present its own projects to support the Fund. Both sides agreed to develop a joint roadmap for implementing the suggested initiatives.

The delegation also visited IT Park Uzbekistan, the country’s central hub for innovation, supporting startups and developing export-oriented IT services.

The visit marks an important step in fostering long-term collaboration and implementing joint projects to accelerate Uzbekistan’s digital economy.

Established in June 2020, the EDB Digital Initiatives Fund supports member states’ digital transformation through integration of information resources and project financing. The Eurasian Development Bank, operating for over 20 years, had completed 326 projects by the end of 2025, totaling US$19.6 billion in investments across transportation infrastructure, digital systems, green energy, agriculture, industry, and engineering.

Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ESG principles, the Bank implements major initiatives including the Central Asian Water-Energy Complex, the Eurasian Transport Framework, and the Eurasian Commodity Distribution Network.
