Eco-Inspections Continue at Industrial Enterprises in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A special commission, led by the Presidential Advisor on Environmental Affairs, continues conducting eco-inspections at industrial enterprises aimed at reducing air pollution levels.

On 13 January, inspections were carried out in the industrial zones of Yangihayot and Sergeli districts in Tashkent.

In Sergeli, the commission reviewed operations at the V. L. Galparin Tashkent Pipe Plant, which specializes in welded pipe production. The enterprise is classified as having a high environmental impact.

In Yangihayot, the inspection covered JSC “Uzvtortsvetmet,” also categorized as a high-risk environmental facility. A prior inspection in October 2025 resulted in a mandatory compliance order. Following the latest inspection and directives from the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, it was decided to relocate the enterprise to another region and cease production in Yangihayot.

Obsolete and environmentally hazardous smelting furnaces will be decommissioned, while production will continue in another region using technologically advanced and environmentally safe equipment. These measures are expected to prevent the release of approximately 226.7 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere, significantly improving air quality in Yangihayot.

Additionally, the commission reviewed the Tashkent branch of “Secondary Ferrous Metals,” engaged in sorting and pressing scrap metal. This facility is classified as having a moderate environmental impact.

Following the inspections, all enterprises received strict directives to ensure full compliance with environmental legislation.

Environmental oversight in Tashkent’s industrial zones continues, with enforcement of identified violations remaining under close monitoring by the relevant authorities.
