EBRD Supports Further Modernization of Tashkent Pipe Plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a US$20 million loan to the Tashkent Pipe Plant (TTP), one of Uzbekistan’s largest private steel producers, to support further modernization and expansion of its production capacities.

The financing will allow the plant to maintain working capital, increase production of large-diameter insulated pipes (LDIP), purchase necessary raw materials, and upgrade equipment for applying protective insulation to water pipes.

TTP remains the sole producer of insulated LDIP in Uzbekistan. These pipes are used in water supply systems, the mining industry, residential and commercial construction, as well as in major infrastructure projects such as bridges, roads, and overpasses.

The project includes the implementation of advanced insulation technology, which will extend the service life of the pipes from the current 15–20 years to 50 years. This will provide significant long-term benefits, including enhanced infrastructure sustainability, water savings, and reduced operating costs.

The modernization of production and expansion of durable pipe output will directly improve access to drinking water for the population and strengthen the country’s sustainable infrastructure.

To date, the EBRD has invested €5.57 billion in Uzbekistan across 193 projects, most of which aim to support the private sector and stimulate economic growth.
