Drug Traffickers Detained in Khorezm, Ferghana, Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have carried out a series of operations targeting illegal drug trafficking as part of the nationwide campaign “Safe and Healthy Country.”

Joint efforts involving the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and customs authorities uncovered several cases of smuggling and distribution of prohibited substances.

In the Khorezm region, a man born in 1983 was detained in Urgench. During a personal search, officers seized 5 grams of opium, while an additional 887 grams of opium and 71 grams of heroin were discovered at his rented residence. Authorities established that he intended to resell the drugs obtained from criminal partners in a neighboring country.

In the Ferghana region, a resident of the Ferghana district born in 1991 was detained. A search of his home uncovered 2,800 tablets of the psychoactive drug Regapen, valued at approximately 140 million soums, which had been smuggled from Kyrgyzstan.

In the Tashkent region, two individuals were detained — a citizen born in 1996 and his associate, a Kazakh national born in 1994. Officers seized 300 ml of the psychoactive drug Tropicamide, several capsules of Pregabalin, and additional vials of liquid Tropicamide. The suspects were selling the substances for US$300 and 600,000 soums, disguising them as legitimate medications.

Criminal cases have been initiated in all three incidents, and investigative actions are ongoing.
