Driver Responsible for Death of Two-Year-Old Child Sentenced to Seven Years in Zaamin District

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Zaamin District Court of Jizzakh Region has delivered its verdict in a case involving a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a two-year-old boy.

A 31-year-old man who worked as a paramedic at the Zaamin sanatorium was found guilty and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment to be served in a minimum-security correctional settlement, with a three-year ban on driving.

The tragic incident occurred last summer. According to investigators, the driver failed to notice the child while reversing and struck him. Rather than calling emergency services, the man carried the child's body to his own property and left it under a tree.

The search for the child lasted two weeks. The boy's body was discovered in a mountainous area near the village of Uriklisay. During the investigation, the driver was found to be responsible both for the collision and for concealing the fact of the child's death.

The defendant's actions were classified under Article 117, Part 2 ("Abandonment in Danger Resulting in Death") and Article 266, Part 2 ("Violation of Traffic Safety Rules Resulting in Death") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The verdict reflects a firm judicial stance toward traffic law violators and underscores the legal consequences of concealing the aftermath of road accidents that result in loss of life.
