Draft strategy of Uzbekistan’s transition to a green economy published for discussion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Hydrometeorological Services has published a draft presidential resolution, which will approve the strategy for Uzbekistan’s transition to a green economy. The green economy involves the introduction of clean or green technologies.
The draft resolution says that the energy intensity of the economy of Uzbekistan is three times higher than the world average, and the level of greenhouse gas emissions remains one of the highest among the CIS countries, Spot.uz reported.
The main goal of the strategy is the achievement of sustainable economic progress, which contributes to social development, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, climate and environmental sustainability through the integration of the principles of a "green" economy into the implemented structural reforms.
The main areas include several sectors, including "Buildings", "Transport", "Forestry", "Education and Science" and much more.
In the transport sector, such tasks as expanding the production and use of electric vehicles, cars with hybrid engines, on gas fuel are indicated. In the "Buildings" sector - the widespread introduction of a "closed" heat supply system for central heating. In the “Creating a favorable environment” sector - introducing a system of “green” lending and venture financing.
