Draft Law on Supervision of Parolees Sent Back for Revision

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis reviewed in the second reading the draft law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts Aimed at Improving the Mechanisms for Supervising Persons Released on Parole.”

The document is intended to regulate probationary supervision, including monitoring compliance with court-imposed obligations for individuals under parole.

The draft law proposes amendments to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, the Penal Enforcement Code, and the Law on Probation.

Specifically, it establishes procedures for revoking parole and sending individuals who fail to fulfill their obligations back to serve their sentence or imposing additional obligations on them. It also allows the court to consider partial or full cancellation of obligations for persons who responsibly fulfill their duties.

During the session, deputies raised comments on several articles of the draft and suggested further refinement. The draft law was returned to the responsible committee for additional work.
