Draft law on patronage and cultural sponsorship published for discussion
The draft law was developed in accordance with Article 8 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On procedure for preparation of draft laws and their entry into the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan" from 11 October 2006, the press service of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts said.
The purpose of the draft law is to regulate relations in the field of patronage and cultural sponsorship. The draft law determines the legal status of subjects of patronage activities, procedure and principles for implementation of patronage activities and cultural sponsorship.
The project envisages financial and other types of incentives for patronage and cultural sponsorship.
The adoption of the new law will allow to formalize and reward market participants, who want to become socially responsible.
In addition, the draft law includes a mechanism for reporting recipients of patronage support, which will allow patrons to be sure that their funds are spent for their intended purpose.
The Fund for Development of Culture and Arts under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established in October 2017 with the goal of state support and further development of national culture and art in Uzbekistan, as well as expansion of international and interstate cultural ties.
