Draft Law on Improving Security Activities Approved in First Reading

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis reviewed in its first reading the draft law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of Security Activities.”

The draft law aims to expand the scope of security activities and establish the legal framework for protecting the property of individuals and legal entities, construction sites, and entertainment facilities, as well as to clarify the powers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in this area.

Under the draft, amendments are introduced to the Code on Administrative Liability: the authority to consider administrative offense cases and impose administrative penalties, previously assigned to officials of the Main Security Department of the National Guard, will be transferred to employees of the Security Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The provisions are designed to further strengthen the legislative framework for security activities, improve law enforcement practices, and ensure public safety.

After detailed discussion, the draft law was approved by deputies in its first reading.
