Donald Trump: Uzbekistan Airways Signs Boeing Contract Worth Over US$8 Billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Uzbekistan Airways has signed a contract with Boeing worth over US$8 billion. Under the deal, the national airline of Uzbekistan plans to acquire up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Trump noted on the social media platform Truth Social that he had spoken earlier this month with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Today I want to congratulate President Mirziyoyev on signing a GREAT Deal with Boeing! Worth over $8 Billion Dollars, Uzbekistan Airways is purchasing 22,787 Dreamliners. This will create over 35,000 jobs in the United States,” he wrote.

The U.S. President emphasized that Mirziyoyev is a “man of his word” and expressed hope for continued cooperation on a number of other projects.

Boeing also issued a separate statement regarding the order. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, the contract was signed on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York. The Department estimated the deal’s value at US$8.5 billion, describing it as “the largest commercial aviation agreement of its kind in Central Asia.”

Under the agreement, Uzbekistan Airways will acquire 14 787-9 aircraft with an option for an additional eight planes, enabling a significant modernization of the airline’s long-haul fleet and strengthening its position on international routes.
