Doctors of Uzbekistan and Israel exchange of experience in combating COVID-19

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Doctors of Uzbekistan and Israel shared their experience in combating coronavirus in a videoconference organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tel Aviv, Dunyo news agency reports.

The event was attended by the head of the intensive care unit of the Barzilai medical center in Ashkelon, Dr. Boris Goltsman, as well as the head of the spinal surgery department of this center, a native of Uzbekistan, Dr. Rustam Jabbarov.

The Uzbek side involved more than 150 medical specialists from all regions of the republic.

During the dialogue, experts exchanged experience in the fight against coronavirus infection. In particular, Dr. R. Jabbarov, who was one of the first patients in Israel to infect and recover from COVID-19, spoke about the course of the disease and the stages of treatment.

In turn, B. Goltsman informed the participants about the epidemiological situation in Israel, measures taken and successes in preventing the spread of coronavirus in the country.

He also elaborated on systemic work at the Barzilai Intensive Care Unit during and after the peak of the pandemic. In particular, he spoke about the shift work regime of medical personnel, the protection and prevention of doctors, the methods of treatment and the medicines used, specially equipped wards for treating seriously ill patients, innovative methods and technologies for virtual monitoring of patients.

Goltsman also added that the department that received patients with coronavirus infection was closed at the Barzilai Medical Center, since all patients with coronavirus were treated in the hospital. Doctors and other medical staff were transferred to the departments in which they worked before the outbreak.

The videoconference was fruitful and constructive, during which answers from Israeli experts to dozens of questions from Uzbek colleagues were given.
