Dmitry Medvedev: General agreement on the construction of nuclear power plants in Uzbekistan to be prepared by 2019
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A general agreement on the construction of nuclear power plants in Uzbekistan should be prepared by the end of 2019, after which the main economic parameters of the project will be calculated, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced this after the visit to Uzbekistan during an interview with Sergey Brilev for the Vesti on Saturday program.
“We need to prepare a so-called general agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant of a certain design by the end of this year,” the Russian prime minister said.
After that, according to him, it will be necessary to calculate the parameters, including economic ones, "because it is an expensive story." “And as a result of this, temporary construction parameters will arise,” he said, answering a question about the approximate timing of the construction project of the first Uzbek nuclear power plant.
“This is a slow process. But the construction of a nuclear power plant is not very fast, because it is an extremely complex technological project,” Medvedev stressed. The head of the Russian government added that the Russian Federation is preparing to build a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan and that the parties have already approved some parameters, in particular, a place for the construction of nuclear power plants. According to Medvedev, including this was discussed at the talks held on 30 May as part of his visit to Uzbekistan.
