Discussion Held in Tashkent on the Message of the President of Kazakhstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A roundtable discussion was held in the capital focusing on the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the people of Kazakhstan, titled “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Tasks and Solutions through Digital Transformation,” which was published on 8 September 2025.
The keynote address was delivered by Beibut Atamkulov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.
In his speech, the diplomat emphasized that the Message sets the strategic guidelines for Kazakhstan’s socio-economic development in the context of rapid adoption of artificial intelligence technologies and digitalization.
“President Tokayev’s document outlines the priorities of digital transformation across all areas of life—from the economy to the system of state governance. These measures are aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency, stimulating innovation, and developing human capital,” Beibut Atamkulov noted.
The Ambassador paid particular attention to issues of regional cooperation, highlighting that digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence technologies open new opportunities for joint projects between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in science, education, business, and innovation.
Dilorm Fayzieva, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security, stressed the importance of strategically synchronizing the initiatives of the two countries: “Artificial intelligence and digitalization are becoming defining factors in the development of the economy and society. For Uzbekistan, it is crucial to study Kazakhstan’s experience and develop joint projects that will allow our countries to become leaders in Central Asia in this field.”
Akramjon Nematov, First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted that the Message reflects a broader regional context: “Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are not merely neighbors but strategic partners. In the face of global challenges and technological transformations, we face similar tasks—from workforce development to the implementation of innovative solutions. Cooperation in artificial intelligence can become a driver of sustainable development for the entire region.”
Experts highlighted that the digital agenda and the objectives set forth in the Message largely coincide with Uzbekistan’s priorities in developing the digital economy. In this context, the following areas are of particular interest:
Joint research centers focused on artificial intelligence and big data;
Development of startup ecosystems involving young IT entrepreneurs from both countries;
Educational initiatives, including academic exchange programs and the training of specialists in cybersecurity and AI technologies;
Infrastructure projects in the fields of smart cities, e-government, and digital finance;
Integration into regional and global platforms for experience sharing and promotion of joint developments.
Participants in the event—including representatives of government agencies, academic and expert circles, as well as the business community of Uzbekistan—underscored the significance of the initiatives outlined in the Message in the context of strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries.
