Director of “Khududgaz Kashkadarya” Fined for Failing to Return 2.6 Billion Soums to Entrepreneur
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The head of the “Khududgaz Kashkadarya” gas supply branch, Ulugbek Ernazarov, has been fined for failing to return 2.6 billion soums to an entrepreneur, the press service of the Business Ombudsman under the President of Uzbekistan stated.
The incident drew wide attention on social media after the entrepreneur appealed to Marufkhon Khodjaev, Chairman of “Khududgazta’minot,” requesting assistance in ensuring the lawful return of the funds.
In his appeal, the entrepreneur noted that branch employees were ignoring a directive from the investigator of the Surkhandarya Regional Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered the money to be returned.
The press service of “Khududgaz Kashkadarya” stated that the complaint had been resent to the General Prosecutor’s Office regarding the Surkhandarya Regional Prosecutor’s resolution dated July 29, 2025.
The Business Ombudsman also commented on the situation, confirming that the funds had not been returned despite the closure of the criminal case and the official order to refund the money.
Following the review, an administrative protocol was drawn up under Article 241−9 of the Code of Administrative Liability, covering the unlawful transfer or withdrawal of funds or their untimely return.
The court fined the branch director 20 base calculation units, totaling 8.24 million soums. Authorities noted that measures are currently being taken to transfer the funds to the entrepreneur’s account.
