Director General of ADB Department for Central and West Asia holds talks at Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with Werner Lipak, Director General of ADB Central and West Asia Department.
The head of the representative office of the Asian Development Bank in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Cindy Malvičini, also participated in bilateral negotiations.
The head of the ADB department during the conversation noted that at present the international bank is preparing a new cooperation strategy with the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2023, as well as identifying priority areas for the program, which, in turn, will stand out from current issues and proposals from Uzbekistan.
From the Uzbek side, it was emphasized that the country is currently paying special attention to introducing new approaches in managing major sectors of the economy to successfully implement the ongoing reforms, and given the wide possibilities of ADB financing instruments, the use of sector loans and credits to support reforms in such areas as energy, transport, infrastructure development, agriculture and water management, support for small and private businesses, social sector and health care is most in demand today.
Also during the talks, the question was raised about participation in CAREC program activities as in 2019 Uzbekistan will chair the programme and all key events held in Uzbekistan. The ADB delegation underlined that the visit of ADB President Takehiko Nakao is possible as part of the main meeting of CAREC.
