Diplomats Help Return Uzbek Woman from Saudi Arabia Amid Abuse
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek diplomats assisted in the repatriation of R.G., a native of Samarkand who had lived for many years in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and had been subjected to inhumane pressure from her foreign husband, Dunyo news agency reported.
The issue of her return to Uzbekistan was coordinated with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other competent authorities. Under the kingdom’s law, foreign citizens require an exit visa to leave the country, and women need official permission from their husband.
Following R.G.’s appeal, her husband was arrested and placed in temporary detention. He was ordered to grant permission for her exit visa, not to obstruct her return, and not to harass or harm her.
R.G. was issued an exit visa and safely flew back to Uzbekistan via the route Dammam — Sharjah — Tashkent.
The citizen expressed her gratitude to the diplomats, government, and national leadership for their support and for saving her life.
