Diplomats and experts discussed the experience of Eurasian countries in the prevention and control of COVID-19

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Pakistan Center for Global and Strategic Studies organized a videoconference “Eurasian Countries’ Experience in Preventing and Combating Covid-19,” which was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Russia in Islamabad, as well as representatives of the ministries of defense, health of Pakistan, leading expert and analytical circles and the media, Dunyo news agency reports.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Pakistan F. Sidikov provided detailed information on decisive measures taken by the leadership of Uzbekistan to support the national economy and the social sector during the pandemic, and to protect against the negative consequences of the global spread of COVID-19. He also spoke about the dedicated work and professionalism of Uzbek doctors and other specialists, as well as the cohesion of the population at this crucial time for the country.

An expert on Central Asian countries M. Hassan Khan in his speech on the anti-crisis policy of the leadership of Uzbekistan emphasized that the republic was one of the first in Central Asia to generate a US$1 billion anti-crisis fund in a timely manner that are aimed at large-scale measures to combat the spread of coronavirus infection , support for entrepreneurship, employment, including the implementation of infrastructure projects to ensure the sustainable functioning of economic sectors.

“In Uzbekistan, social support for the population is gradually increasing, family benefits are being increased, an unprecedented daily surcharge is being introduced to medical, sanitary and epidemiological and other employees participating in activities to combat coronavirus,” the expert noted.

According to him, the effective anti-crisis measures of the President of Uzbekistan have become effective not only on a national scale, but also gained a regional character, since the republic began regular deliveries of humanitarian supplies to neighboring states, as well as CIS countries. “This, in turn, once again demonstrates the sincere, peace-loving and good-neighborly foreign policy of Uzbekistan,” said M. Hassan Khan.

In general, in the framework of the video conference, experts and participants agreed that the countries of Central Asia, as well as Pakistan, should conduct a coordinated struggle against the coronavirus epidemic and its negative socio-economic consequences.
