Dilyor Khakimov meets with KLM International Director
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 December 2018, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov met with the Director of International Affairs of the Netherlands KLM airline Jan van der Viil.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed prospects for establishing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands in the field of air communication and the new opportunities, which emerged due to liberalization of the tourism industry in our country, as well as the latest changes in the aviation industry.
Highly appreciating the large-scale reforms currently underway in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the KLM representative stressed that the new opportunities opening up for foreign partners allow us to approach the issues of cooperation with Uzbekistan in a new way.
In this regard, KLM is interested in working with the Uzbek side new routes connecting the airports of the Netherlands, in particular Schiphol, through Uzbekistan with other countries of Central Asia, the Far East region and India.
As noted during the meeting, Uzbekistan Airways, in case of interest, could begin negotiations with the Dutch authorities on the possibility of starting flights from the winter of 2019-2020.
The parties also spoke positively in favor of establishing flights to Uzbekistan by partner airlines, including using the leading international low-cost airlines that fly to Schipol.
This will dramatically increase the number of tourists from the Netherlands by reducing the cost of tours to Uzbekistan, as well as improve business contacts and travel of European entrepreneurs to the republic.
Following the meeting, it was agreed in principle to conduct an assessment study and an analysis of the possibilities for increasing passenger traffic in Uzbekistan, in particular from the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.
