Uzbekistan marks the Day of workers of print and mass media on 27 June.
In his message, Uzbek President said that Uzbekistan gradually introduced digital television to meet demands of population to information and quality of television programmes. He said that this year it is planned to expand digital television penetration from 42% to 45%.
He recalled that Uzbekistan national television and radio company launched several new channels Madaniyat va Marifat (Culture and Education), Dunyo Boylab (Around world), Bolajon (Child), which will be another step in this direction.
Uzbek President said that programmes of Uzbek TV channels are broadcasted via global network to many countries, while majority of local mass media have their mass media. Naturally, this serves to strengthening position of Uzbekistan at international media space, he added.
Islam Karimov said that compared to 1991 number of Uzbekistan media outlets grew 3.5 times and reached 1,326, major part of which are non-governmental.
