DFC to Support US Investment Influx into Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) intends to facilitate the attraction of American investors to Uzbekistan. This was announced by the Head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, following negotiations with DFC CEO Ben Black held on 7 April.
During the meeting, the parties discussed an extensive portfolio of joint projects. The American side expressed its readiness not only to support the entry of investors but also to participate in sharing potential financial risks. According to Mirziyoyeva, a joint investment platform is also planned for launch later this year.
Earlier, she attended a business breakfast with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where the results of the first meeting of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council were summarized and a portfolio of joint economic initiatives was reviewed.
The inaugural meeting of the council, co-chaired by Saida Mirziyoyeva and the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, took place on April 6. During the session, the American side emphasized the seriousness of its intentions to develop a strategic partnership with the region. A corresponding memorandum was signed following the conclusion of the meeting.
