Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 May 2020, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur, a video conference was held between the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmal Saidov and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat) of the Parliament of Malaysia Mohd Rashid bin Hassnon.

During the conversation, the state and priority directions for the further development of the Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation were discussed.

The Malaysian side praised the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at further liberalization and modernization of the economy, improving public administration and the legislative sphere.

The parties mutually informed about measures taken in Uzbekistan and Malaysia to counteract the spread of coronavirus and expressed their readiness to cooperate in this direction.

The meeting confirmed mutual interest in realizing the significant potential available for expanding cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The Malaysian side agreed with the opinion on the need for further development of interaction between the legislative bodies of the two countries. It is noted that the deepening of inter-parliamentary relations will contribute to the intensification of bilateral relations in all areas, including parliamentary and public diplomacy.
