Deputy Speaker: Uzbekistan can get energy from the sun in the amount equal to 51 billion tonnes of oil equivalent per year
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An interview with the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber, Boris Alikhanov, and an open dialogue with media representatives took place on 31 May at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications.
During the dialogue, it was noted that the world’s oil reserves will last for 40–60 years, and coal reserves - for 100-115 years. “And then what will happen? In XXII, what sources of energy will we use? - asked the Deputy Speaker Boriy Alikhanov. - Currently in Germany, USA, Japan, South Korea and Europe, the focus is on renewable energy sources. This is solar, wind, biomass and bio-thermal energy. ”
The deputy speaker gave an example that in Germany and Japan the share of renewable energy sources in the total energy system of the country reached 20-25%. He also noted that today the world consumes an amount of energy equal to almost 12 billion tonnes of oil equivalent per year. On average, this means that each person consumes energy, the production of which takes 2 tonnes of oil.
“It is possible in Uzbekistan to get energy from the sun in the amount equal to 51 billion tonnes of oil equivalent per year,” Boriy Alikhanov said. “This indicator is calculated on a global scale.” Then he appreciated the opportunities of Uzbekistan in this area. “In Uzbekistan, there are more than 320 sunny days a year,” said Alikhanov.
- If we assume the possibility of obtaining energy from the sun, then we have real conditions for the use of sunlight throughout almost the whole year. That is, we will be able to receive energy in the amount of more than 182 million tonnes of oil equivalent per year. This is almost three times the amount of energy consumed in the country at present. The sun is the most optimal and efficient source of energy in Uzbekistan. ”
