Deputy Minister of Mining Discusses Groundwater Management with World Bank
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Geology Feruza Khamidova, together with relevant ministry staff, held a meeting with a World Bank delegation led by Winston Yu, Regional Water Resources Practice Manager for Europe and Central Asia.
During the discussions, the parties addressed issues related to the rational use and management of groundwater resources.
The ministry representatives shared experiences from countries such as China, India, Brazil, and Turkey regarding the monitoring and efficient utilization of water resources.
World Bank representatives confirmed their readiness to implement modern technologies for groundwater monitoring and conservation in Uzbekistan and to support the development of the Groundwater Management and Protection Strategy for 2025–2050.
Additionally, both sides exchanged views on potential financing from the Bank, including the allocation of grant funds to support the implementation of these initiatives.
