Deputies approved the candidacy for the post of Minister of Uzbekistan for supporting the mahalla and family

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - At a video-conference held on 12 February 2020 under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, issues of improving the mahalla institution, strengthening the situation of peace and tranquility, and preventing crime on the ground were discussed.

The head of state noted making changes to the mahalla system and put forward a proposal to create a separate state body responsible for this huge sphere.

In accordance with the new practice introduced in the lower house of parliament, on 18 February 2020, at a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies considered the candidacy of the head of this new ministry, the Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan for supporting the mahalla and the family, which is being approved as a member of the government.

For the post of Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan to support the mahalla and the family, the candidacy of the first deputy chairman of the Republican Council for the Coordination of Activities of Citizens’ Self-Government Bodies — the chairman of the Mahalla charity public foundation Rakhmat Mamatov was proposed.

During the discussions, representatives of the people came up with proposals for fulfilling the tasks facing the new ministry and its leadership to increase the role and importance of the mahalla institution, which must be turned into a real assistant to the population, able to protect the legal and legitimate interests of women, to strengthen a healthy, social and spiritual environment in society and family, ensure well-being in them.

Members of parliament also discussed issues and made proposals for continuous, systematic cooperation of the mahalla institute with internal affairs bodies, state and public organizations, as well as the introduction of information and communication technologies and a number of other important issues.

At the same time, questions were raised on the candidate’s action plan, which was answered in detail by the nominated candidate of the Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan for supporting the makhalla and the family, Rakhmat Mamatov, noting that after taking up the post he would strengthen the work between the parliament and the ministry.

The deputies adopted a decision of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on approval for the post of Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan for supporting the makhalla and the family of Rakhmat Mamatov.
