In the first round of the tournament, Denis Istomin outplayed third seed of John Isner of the United States with the score 6/4 and 6/3.

In the next round Denis Istomin will play against the winner of the match between Yen-Hsun Lu (Chinese Taipei) and Lleyton Hewitt (Australia).
