Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The delegations of the railway administrations of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran discussed the development of trilateral cooperation.
An online meeting on the development of trilateral cooperation was attended by the acting chairman of the board of the joint-stock company Uzbekistan Temir Yollari Kh. Khasilov, deputy minister of road and urban construction of the Islamic Republic of Iran S. Rasuli, A. Atamuradov, head of the Turkmen Railways Agency, as well as heads of the involved departments, heads of forwarding and logistics companies of the three countries.
The Uzbek side noted that the heads of states of three countries emphasized the importance of taking joint measures to resolve issues in the transport and logistics sphere as soon as possible, ensuring food security and unhindered movement of goods necessary for carrying out economic activities in key areas. The Iranian and Turkmen sides supported this initiative and expressed confidence that the results of the negotiations will achieve results that will significantly strengthen cooperation between the railway administrations.
The participants in the videoconference exchanged views on enhancing, in the current quarantine conditions, mechanisms of interaction in the field of transportation and transit across the state borders of the three countries of rail and road freight. A number of issues related to the uninterrupted supply of goods were also discussed, including the coordinated action of the parties to ensure food security. The parties exchanged views on measures taken to organize disinfection tunnels to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at borders during cargo transportation.
Following the meeting, noting the fruitfulness of the negotiations, the parties agreed on the organization of tripartite meetings on a monthly basis until the end of the quarantine.
