Delegation of Uzbekistan visits Germany
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan, consisting of representatives of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IISM), the Information and Analytical Center for International Studies (IAMMC), the Center for Development Strategy, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, as well as the apparatus of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visits Germany.

The purpose of the trip is expansion of mutually beneficial Uzbek-German cooperation and informing political, expert and public circles with realization of the Action Strategy for 2017-2022 and foreign policy initiatives of the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Uzbek delegation held number of negotiations and consultations in the Office of the Federal Chancellor, the federal ministries of foreign affairs, economy and energy, economic development and cooperation, Center for Eastern European and International Studies, German Foreign Policy Foundation.

The German partners welcomed the adoption of the Strategy of Action in Uzbekistan, expressed their readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in the practical implementation of the tasks, defined in this document.

The scale of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, their focus, first of all, on the satisfaction of the interests of the people was noted. The concept of administrative reforms, aimed at decentralization and optimization of the public administration system, combating corruption, and facilitating people’s access to state-provided services was highly appreciated and strongly supported.

Germany welcomes Uzbekistan’s efforts to liberalize the foreign exchange market, ensure the protection of property rights, create a competitive environment, reduce the role of the state in the economy, and develop public-private partnerships. It was stressed that these measures create favorable opportunities for further deepening of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

During the meetings, German partners demonstrated their good awareness of the main results of the UN High-Level International Conference on Central Asia, which was held on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 10-11 November 2017 in Samarkand.

According to their estimates, today Uzbekistan’s foreign policy makes an invaluable contribution to the expansion of regional cooperation, ensuring security and sustainable development in Central Asia.

At the center of the meetings in Berlin are also issues of further development of comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany.

The parties stated that there is a huge potential in bilateral relations, but not yet realized. As priority areas of cooperation, the attraction to Uzbekistan of modern technologies and investments by leading German companies, close cooperation in education and training, health and tourism were identified.

As a result of the talks, the IMSMI and IAMCM leadership signed memorandums of cooperation with a number of authoritative research institutions and think tanks of the ruling parties of Germany - the Adenauer Foundation, the Ebert Foundation, the European Institute of Caucasian and Caspian Studies.

The visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Germany is continuing. Within the visit, it is planned to organize the roundtable on Action Strategy, hold negotiations in the Bundestag and the Office of the Federal President of Germany.
