Delegation of Uzbekistan on a business visit to Hungary
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 March, within the framework of the official visit of the Uzbek delegation to the meeting of the Uzbek-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardar Umurzakov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary by Péter Szijjártó.
The heads of departments exchanged views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation, bearing in mind the expansion of the investment partnership and increasing trade turnover between the two countries. It was noted that Uzbekistan in the past two years has become one of the most open for establishing sustainable economic relations of states due to the accelerated institutional reforms in the country.
Mr. Péter Szijjártó expressed hope for a further rapprochement between Hungary and Uzbekistan, which will undoubtedly have a positive effect on the development of both countries by strengthening economic and socio-cultural partnership.
On the same day, as if to confirm the above, with the participation of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, as well as heads of sectoral departments and ministries, the Uzbek-Hungarian business forum on trade and economic cooperation was held.
From the Hungarian side, representatives of big business in the agro-industrial sector, animal husbandry, construction and engineering, energy, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, information and communication technologies and tourism attended the event.
The Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Ms. Petra Ponevats-Pan, who also spoke at the forum on behalf of the government, noted the great opportunities for inter-country cooperation in the exchange of technologies, scientific developments and the development of vocational education, and expressed the hope that the year will significantly increase the flow of tourists in both directions.
At the end of the forum, a number of documents were signed between Hungarian entrepreneurs and representatives of sectoral departments and ministries of Uzbekistan, defining the scope and timing of cooperation between two parties in the implementation of specific projects.
