Delegation of Kazakhstan pays visit to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Department of the Committee for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies, Protection of Competition and Consumer Rights of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Turkestan region, headed by the Head of the Department, Yerbolat Ibraikhanov, visited Uzbekistan, the Antimonopoly Committee said in a statement.

The purpose of the visit, according to Kazakh colleagues, was the desire to exchange experiences, establish cooperation and study issues of state regulation in the field of antitrust policy and entrepreneurship in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the delegation’s visit, presentation sessions were organized on the main areas of activity of the Antimonopoly Committee: methods of market analysis and assessment of the competitive environment; abuse by business entities of a dominant position in commodity markets; the procedure for the formation and maintenance of the state register of entities of natural monopolies, etc.

The head of the delegation from Kazakhstan, Yerbolat Ibraikhanov, met with the Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Najmiddin Sharipov.

The guests also visited retail chains, where they talked with the managers of a large supermarket chain in the capital. The delegation from Kazakhstan got acquainted with the operating principle of the retail network, purchasing fruit and vegetable products from private suppliers, with the full cycle of the supply chain, the method of selecting suppliers, etc.

Kazakhstani delegation also visited large agricultural complexes of the Tashkent region, specializing in the production, processing of products to exported types of finished products. The guests in this industry were interested in everything: from the state of competition in this market segment to the available benefits and preferences for local entrepreneurs.

Following the visit, the Kazakh side expressed hope and readiness for a return visit from the Antimonopoly Committee of Uzbekistan for further cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of antitrust regulation and the development of competition.
