Delegation of Japan visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation led by the member of the House of Representatives of Japanese parliament Endo Toshiaki met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov on 22 August 2013.

During the negotiations, it was noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in all spheres are developing gradually, UzA reported.

The relations between two nations are strengthening in many areas, including trade-economic, investment and scientific-technical. The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Japan exceeded US$214 million in 2012.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on perspectives of further developing trade-economic cooperation, developing and implementing mutual beneficial projects.

In the result of the meeting, the sides signed an exchange notes and a loan agreement on the Navoi Thermal Power Station Modernization Project. According to the document, new combined-cycle plant will be constructed at the Navoi Thermal Power Station. The size of grant made up 34.877 billion yens.

Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato and Minister of Foreign Economic Relation, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev signed the exchange notes.

The delegation of Japan also held negotiations at the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, Ministry of Healthcare, Uzbekenergo and other ministries and departments.
