Davr Bank and ADB to Support Microbusinesses and Women Entrepreneurs with Loans in National Currency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the private commercial bank Davr Bank have signed a credit agreement totaling approximately US$20 million, with the possibility of disbursing funds in the national currency.
The project, titled “Supporting Inclusive Access to Finance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs),” aims to expand entrepreneurs’ access to banking services, including first-time borrowers, while strengthening Davr Bank’s capacity to serve underbanked clients.
A particular focus of the initiative is the development of lending in the national currency. Under the terms of the agreement, at least 50% of the loan funds will be allocated to support women-owned enterprises, which is expected to stimulate growth in these businesses and enhance women’s contribution to Uzbekistan’s economic development.
