In the pairs match, Denis Istomon and Farrukh Dustov lost to Chris Guccione and Lleyton Hewitt with the score 6-3, 7-6 (7/5), 6-2.
Australia took a 3-0 lead and booked its place in the World Group of Davis Cup.
Two singles rubbers will be played on Sunday, but their result will not impact final score in the tie.
