Czech Republic praises large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 October 2019, another round of Uzbek-Czech political consultations was held in Prague.

The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov. The Czech Republic was represented by a delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa.

They discussed prospects for further development of relations in various fields, in particular, strengthening political dialogue, enhancing trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as expanding the legal framework for cooperation. They also exchanged views on selected issues of a regional and international nature.

An agreement was reached on actively promoting economic diplomacy in bilateral relations by facilitating the establishment and expansion of contacts between businessmen of the two countries, creating favorable conditions for mutual trade and implementing joint investment projects.

On the same day, a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dilshod Akhatov met with Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Voitik Filip. During the meeting, issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries were discussed.

Considering the upcoming regular elections to the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan in December of this year, the willingness of the Czech side to provide practical support to measures in this direction by exchanging experience in parliamentarism was noted.

The Czech side appreciated the ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed its readiness to provide them with the necessary support.
