Customs officers reveal 89 facts of illegal movement of antiques

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan revealed 89 facts of illegal movement of 2,420 units of antiques in 2013, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The customs committee said that officers detained citizen of Russia T. Tairov at Tashkent airport, who was heading to Moscow. The customs officers seized 12 graphics and 8 photo reproductions. According to expertise, the works represent historic and cultural value and they cannot be taken out of Uzbekistan.

The customs officers also detained hard currency. Citizen of Tashkent city F. Hojimatova was detained with US$50,000. She was planning to fly to Frankfurt. She declared that he has US$200 in declaration, but inspection showed that she had US$50,000.

Citizen of Samarkand region Sh. Marifhanova, flying to New York, attempted to smuggle 170 grams of jewelry worth 33 million soums.

The investigations on all these cases are underway.
