Customs officers reveal 85 cases of illegal movement of antiques

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan revealed 85 cases of illegal movement of 2,479 units of antique, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that citizen of Namangan region Marziya Ibragimov, who was heading from Tashkent to Baku (Azerbaijan) was detained after inspection of her luggage. She attempted to smuggle 64 units of ancient gold coins.

The expertise showed that the coins were minted in the beginning of the 19th century and represent historic and cultural value.

Citizen of Andijan region Rayhon Madaminov tried to smuggle 640 grams of gold products with total cost of 25.6 million soums. She was detained during inspection of the passengers of the flight “Istanbul-Tashkent”.

In past period of 2013, the officers of the State Customs Committee revealed 286 facts of illegal movement of 86kg of gold products for 6.84 billion soums.

Currently, the investigations are underway on these cases.
