Customs officers prevented the illegal export of ancient coins

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Customs officers in Surkhandarya region, during customs control of citizen M.Sh., detained hidden ancient coins, which were not declared in written or oral form.

During the inspection, eight ancient coins minted from silver metal were found.

According to the results of the examination, it turned out that 2 coins belong to the period of the Greco-Bactrian kingdom, which existed from 250 BC to 125 BC., 2 more coins belong to the period of the Kushan kingdom that existed approximately between 105 BC and 250 BC.

Two coins were minted 70-80 years ago in the USA, and the last 2 coins with Arabic inscriptions belong to the 19th century. According to preliminary estimates, the total value of detected coins is 63 million 500 thousand soums.

The ancient coins withdrawn as material evidence were deposited in the Surkhandarya State Archaeological Museum.

Currently, according to the revealed fact of an offense, customs checks are being conducted.
