Customs officers of Uzbekistan study international experience of criminal investigation
The training was organised by the EU-UNDP Border Management in Central Asia (BOMCA) Programme in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) within the Programme component “Enhancing Professional Skills in Central Asia”.
The purpose of the training was to enhance knowledge of the customs officers on detection of fraud, analysis of modern operations and ways to react (including customs value and transit), customs seizures and results of investigations, risk analysis profiles in the customs clearance, as well as mutual exchange of experience and skills.
Twenty five Uzbek officers from the State Customs Committee participated in the training. The training was facilitated by two international experts - Mr. Thomas Vagovics and Mr. Martin Kühtreiber from Austria. The trainers introduced the participants to the EU best practices based on the Austrian examples and case studies.
The overall objectives of BOMCA are to help increase security in the Central Asian region, to contribute toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit, and to reduce the illicit movement of goods and people.
The BOMCA Programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP with ICMPD as an implementing partner.
