Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 29-30 January 2020, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Health Alisher Shadmanov paid a visit to Austria.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, during the visit, meetings were held with the IAEA Deputy Director General Najat Mokhtar, heads of healthcare and digitalization services companies VAMED and AME International GmbH, as well as Austrian banking and financial institutions.
During the meeting with the IAEA Deputy Director General, the current state of cooperation of Uzbekistan with the organization was discussed and plans for the development of radiation therapy in the country and the improvement of nuclear medicine were identified.
The parties also discussed the creation, with IAEA assistance, of a technopark and a national educational center with a simulation room equipped with modern radiation and radiotherapy equipment for the training and education of national personnel.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan also organized a round table at the IAEA headquarters with the participation of experts from the organization in the field of nuclear medicine, during which issues of radical reform in the field of radiation diagnostics and therapy, the creation of a network of medical centers for radiation therapy of cancer and a national educational center in this area.
During negotiations with the Director General of VAMED Andrea Raffazeder, proposals were considered on the creation in Uzbekistan of a network of modern multidisciplinary and oncological centers of the latest generation using the latest technologies.
As part of the meeting with the Chief Operating Officer of AME International GmbH, Hermine Grubinger, they discussed joint plans for the development of modern clinics in the regions of Uzbekistan and innovative solutions of the company in the field of digitalization of medical institutions. This area of medicine is one of the most important components of the effective functioning of high-tech medical institutions.
Following the results of the meetings and the round table, the following agreements were reached:
-organization of the visit to Uzbekistan of the IAEA Deputy Director General Najat Mokhtar;
- Joint development with the IAEA of a national action plan for the development of radiation therapy in Uzbekistan with the involvement of highly qualified international specialists;
-development by VAMED of a project of a network of oncological centers in Uzbekistan with attraction of investments and preferential credit lines of Austrian financial institutions;
-development and implementation by AME International GmbH of a project to improve the material and technical base of the Namangan Regional Cardiology Center, as well as a project document on the development of e-health in Uzbekistan.
