Cross-Border Transfers to Uzbekistan Reach US$12.1 Billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Since the beginning of 2025, Uzbekistan has received US$12.1 billion in cross-border money transfers, 23% higher than the same period last year, according to the Central Bank.

In July, inflows amounted to nearly US$2 billion, marking a 10.5% increase compared to July 2024, while in August, transfers reached US$1.85 billion, up 20% year-on-year.

From January to August, the population sold US$5.6 billion more in foreign currency than it purchased, with the positive difference in buy-sell operations increasing by 40% compared to last year.

In the first half of the year, cross-border transfers grew by 27% to US$8.2 billion, with a steady monthly increase—from US$1.06 billion in January to US$1.78 billion in June.

Russia remains the main source of transfers, providing US$6.4 billion, or 78% of the total volume. Additional funds came from Kazakhstan, the United States, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Kyrgyzstan, and Lithuania, totaling US$1.8 billion.

Between April and June 2025, labor migrants sent US$4.8 billion to Uzbekistan, a 21.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
