Criminal group causes damage to government of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan in cooperation with other law enforcement bodies carried out preliminary investigation on criminal case against organized criminal group, created by N. Sodiqov, R. Madumarov, G. Avakyan and others.

N. Sodiqov and R. Madumarov coordinated activities of the group. The members of the group carried out criminal activities via blackmail and extortion, falsification of document in 2011-2013 and caused damage to the government, the General Prosecutor’s Office said.

General Prosecutor’s Office noted that purchased the state assets on artificially decreased prices and embezzled assets of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari for 5.5 billion soums, Coca-Cola Ichimligi Uzbekiston Ltd. – 11.9 billion soums, Ferghana Refinery – 40.1 billion soums and other organizations and enterprises – 102 billion soums.

R. Madumarov and G. Avakyan were sentenced for long term jails on 24 May 2014 within criminal cases. They were found guilty in committing crime, envisaged in article 165 (blackmail, organized by group of people) and other articles of Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

General Prosecutor’s Office said that the criminal cases against large number of members of the organized crime were directed to the courts, which adopted corresponding decisions.

Separate criminal cases were opened against members of the criminal group, against who there is no enough evidences or in wanted list. Among them are G. Karimova, A. Kurbanov, B. Suleymanov, Sh. Kamildjanov and R. Mustafaev.

The law enforcement bodies are adopting measures on full compensation of economic damage. So far, assets of the member of the criminal group, located in Uzbekistan, for 457 billion soums were handed over to the Government.

General Prosecutor’s Office said that each member of the organized criminal group will be punished in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan.
