Criminal Case Opened in Surkhandarya Against Arbitration Court Employee for Bribery

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A criminal case has been initiated in Surkhandarya Region against the head of the Human Resources Department of the Arbitration Court for Mediation and Legal Consultations of the region.

According to the investigation, the official, abusing his position, demanded US$1,000 from a resident of Termez, promising to use his high-level connections to facilitate the individual’s employment as a customs inspector in the regional customs administration.

During an operational action conducted by the Surkhandarya Regional Office of the State Security Service in cooperation with the Termez Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was caught in the act while receiving the money.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3, Clause “v” of Article 168 and Part 1 of Articles 28 and 211 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The suspect has been remanded in custody, and investigative actions are ongoing.
