Criminal Case Opened Against Tax Officer in Chust

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A criminal case has been opened in Chust District against a tax inspector suspected of corruption-related offenses.

During a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan in the Namangan Region and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, a woman born in 1992 and residing in Chust district was detained.

According to investigators, the suspect exploited the trust of an accountant at a limited liability company operating in the trade sector. In exchange for a payment of 20 million soums, she allegedly attempted, through contacts within the system, to arrange the cancellation of the company’s tax debt amounting to 376.6 million soums. She was detained while receiving the money, with evidence confirming the offense.

A preliminary investigation also established the involvement of a chief inspector of the Chust district tax authority in the незаконной scheme.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects, and investigative actions are underway to determine all circumstances and identify other individuals involved.
