Creation of the Uzbek-Chinese joint medical technology park in Navoi discussed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the working visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the People’s Republic of China, on 25 April, the Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, academician Ibrohim Abdurahmonov and the head of the Shanghai Institute of Pharmacology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Jingshan Shen signed a letter of intend.
According to the document, the parties agreed on the creation in Uzbekistan of a large technological platform for the synthesis of substances of various drugs together with the Chinese consortium TOPHARMAN & VIGONVITA & CADDDC-CAS.
Due to the fact that the creation of the infrastructure necessary for the production of medicinal substances is one of the urgent tasks of the development of the pharmaceutical industry in our country, the opening of this platform will serve the development of the industry, the production of affordable import-substituting drugs, and an increase in exports.
“Until today, the main medicinal substances were imported to Uzbekistan from abroad,” Abdurahmonov said. - Therefore, it is so important to establish production of the synthesis of substances in our country. Currently, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and the Institute of Plant Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan have established production for the production of medicinal substances, but it was not possible to carry out the synthesis of substances.
The above-mentioned document envisages the creation of an Uzbek-Chinese medical technology park for the synthesis of medicinal substances in the Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone, and the volume of direct initial investments is currently being discussed.
A pharmaceutical substance is a biologically active substance that is intended for the production of a specific medicinal product according to current standards. As a result of the agreements, a phased implementation of work on the synthesis of a number of medicinal substances is expected. The latest technologies in the field of chemistry and pharmaceuticals will be applied.
